A community centre in Glasgow’s east end is running a number of wellbeing events aimed at combatting mental health problems.
The Space, on London Road, is running a “pay-what-you-decide” scheme for the events, meaning that anyone can get involved, regardless of income.
Figures released by the Mental Health Foundation reveal that those living in the most deprived areas are almost twice as likely to suffer with mental health issues.
The Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation ranks the Calton and Gallowgate area as having some of the worst health statistics in the country.
Workers at The Space hope the events will not only increase awareness around mental health issues and reduce the stigma surrounding them, but will actively play a part in helping people who are struggling.
Roger Whyte, events manager at The Space, says past events have been well received by local residents.
